Products vs Variants

In the merch world, data hierarchy is everything. Traditional CRMs often struggle with the complexity of apparel because they treat every item as a flat SKU. In Brandkit, we use a sophisticated Parent-Child model.

The Product (Parent)

Think of the "Product" as the archetype. For example, the AS Colour Staple Tee is a Product. It carries global metadata like:
  • Brand name
  • Fabric composition
  • General description
  • Shipping weights

  • The Variant (Child)

A "Variant" is a specific iteration of that product. For the Staple Tee, variants would be:
  • Staple Tee - Black
  • Staple Tee - White
  • Staple Tee - Carolina Blue

  • Each variant can have its own:
  • High-res images
  • Specific vendor stock levels
  • Unique pricing (if applicable)

  • By separating the two, Brandkit allows you to manage a catalog of 100 products that might actually contain 2,000+ individual variants, without the interface feeling cluttered. When you quote, you add the Product*, and let your client choose the *Variant.
